The storage of conifer seedlings in freezer units at a temperature of -2°C has become a matter of routine practice at Weyerhaeuser Forest Nurseries in Washington and Oregon. This paper provides background information on the evolution of this practice in Weyerhaeuser and describes current operating procedures.
