Estimates of Heritabilities and Genetic Gains for Populations of Virginia Pine


In 1962, the Kentucky-Tennessee Section of the Society of American Foresters sponsored a study to determine the natural variation in Virginia pine (Pinus virginiana Mill.). There were two main objectives in the proposed study: to determine the natural variation in wood properties and to determine the genetic variation in open-pollinated progenies in the natural populations of Virginia pine found in Kentucky and Tennessee.
