10. Packing, Storage and Shipping


Systems of packaging and storage should be considered before nursery construction. Factors to be considered in selecting a new system of handling seedlings or modifying an old system are: Annual production, size of seedlings, packaging in the field or in a shed, interval between lifting and shipping or planting, maximum number of seedlings to be held in storage at the nursery and in the field, and method of shipment.
