Reinvention Hits TPN
Reinvention seems to be the order of the day for Federal, State, and local agencies, as well as for private companies. Organizations need reinvention in order to respond to change-the one constant we can rely on. My duties at the USDA Forest Service are varied, and editing TPN is only one of many. New imperatives constantly arise that must be dealt with, and one of them is the issue of sustainable development. In 1987, the World Commission on Environment and Development issued the "Bruntland Report," which defined sustainable development as "development that meets the needs of the present generation without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs."
